Cabot Community Grant Fund

The Community Grant Fund, administered by the Cabot Community Association, awards grants for community and economic development. Cabot grassroots groups and not-for-profit organizations are eligible to apply for grants of up to $500 to support community-led efforts in Cabot.  These grants are designed to provide support to a variety of local efforts to build and sustain quality of life in Cabot. Applications are accepted throughout the year and a group or organization can only apply for funds for the same purpose once in a calendar year.

The Cabot Community Fund (CCF) allows the CCA to support community based projects and events that further the mission of the CCA. The CCF is funded by the generous support of the Cabot Creamery and other donations.

Please review the eligibility and policy guidelines below before applying.

Use of Funds
  1. Funds will only be awarded to non-governmental organizations. Governmental agencies, or their representatives, cannot apply (i.e. Town and School).
  2. Funds will only be used for expenses and not for capital investment. Funds for capital investment can be sought from the CCIF (formerly UDAG).
  3. Funds cannot be used for personal or business gain (i.e. profit).
Application Requirements
  1. A group or organization can only apply for funds for the same purpose once in a calendar year.
  2. Applicants must document how the funds will be used, why the amount being requested is needed, and how it will benefit the community.
  3. The maximum amount that can be requested and awarded is $500.
  4. Applications must be received at least 90 days prior to need, to allow enough time for CCF committee to process the application. The CCF committee can waive this requirement when circumstances prevent an application from being

submitted 90 days in advance.

  1. Students can apply as a group (i.e. 8th grade class) to help finance projects or field trips, after all other avenues of funding have been exhausted. Teachers, as school representative, cannot be the applicant.
  2. The following events have traditionally received annual grants of $500 from the Cabot Creamery, and the CCA wishes to honor this tradition.
    MapleFest
    Fourth of July
Fall Foliage Festival Apple Pie Festival
  3. The following events have traditionally received annual grants of $1000 from the Cabot Creamery, and the CCA wishes to honor this tradition.
    Cabot Mentoring

When sufficient CCF funds exist, an annual grant for each of these events has been pre-approved by the CCA Board of Directors. The organizations operating these events do not need to apply for the grant, and can receive the funds by submitting a completed “legacy grant” letter of understanding.

Process

● Applications can be submitted online at www.cabotvermont.org. Paper applications may also be or mailed to, or delivered to, the CCA office: CCA, P.O. Box 245, Cabot VT, 05647. The application will be provided to the CCF committee chair.

● The CCF committee will be appointed annually by the CCA Board-of-Directors, and will not exceed 5 members. A minimum of 3 members are required for a quorum to award grants.

● The CCF committee will review grant applications with respect to how well they contribute to the greater good of the community and the number of people who will benefit.

● If a CCF committee meeting is not already scheduled, a CCF committee meeting will be scheduled within 90 days of the receipt of the application. The CCA Board-of-Directors may act as the CCF committee when the CCF committee is unable to achieve a quorum.

● Recipients will be asked to document how the funds were used and how they benefited the community after the event, or the project, is complete.

● Funding is contingent on the intended use as described in the application, and if not used as stated must be returned. Funds will not be distributed without a signed letter of understanding.
